Bone structure and function in male C57BL/6 mice: Effects of a high-fat Western-style diet with or without trace minerals
•Male mice experienced more bone loss on a high-fat Western diet than on a chow diet.•Bone loss was mitigated with a combination of calcium and trace minerals.•Bone structure and function improved in both femora and vertebrae.•Bone strontium was increased in parallel with improvement.
