PINK1 phosphorylates ubiquitin to activate Parkin E3 ubiquitin ligase activity

PINK1 phosphorylates ubiquitin, which then binds to Parkin and activates its E3 ligase activity, leading to induction of selective autophagy of damaged mitochondria.
