| Summary: | This study explores scheduled waste management practices in Malaysia, focusing on industries located along the east coast that produce and manage hazardous waste. As part of the research, interviews were conducted to gather insights into current waste management practices, regulatory compliance, health and safety measures, and training and awareness efforts. The data collected was transcribed, coded, and organized into key themes, including "Current Practices," "Regulatory Compliance," "Health and Safety Measures," "Training and Awareness," and "Future Improvements." To strengthen the reliability of the findings, the themes were cross-referenced with document review data and interpreted in the context of Malaysia's waste management framework.
The study identifies several key challenges, such as inadequate waste separation, lack of reliable waste collection services, and limited infrastructure. Recommendations for improving scheduled waste management include enhancing awareness and training programs, strengthening regulatory compliance, improving waste management infrastructure, promoting sustainable practices, and bolstering research and development. The study also emphasizes the importance of enhancing safety measures in facilities handling hazardous waste. Despite the limitations inherent in the study, such as a limited sample size and resource constraints, the findings contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve waste management practices in Malaysia, with the potential for broader environmental and public health benefits..
