| description | With the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the world since 2020. All economic sectors were affected by the pandemic, and many enterprises stopped production due to the pandemic. Therefore, the supply chain of enterprises is also facing the risk of disruption. In the context of supply chain globalization, the impact of COVID-19 on the global economy from its origin to its outbreak has shown a trend of sustainability. Because they were not prepared for sudden changes in the supply chain. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused interruption of the supply chain of food products, affecting both supply and demand. For example, the food consumption channels and modes under the closed management of community have changed greatly. The pandemic has exposed the fragility of the existing food supply chain.
This paper mainly research question is how to improve the resilience of the food supply chain to cope with the impact of the pandemic and better recover. This paper adopts the method of case study, using Chinese food production and marketing enterprises to study. Through the analysis of cases, the food supply chain has been greatly affected by COVID-19 at both the supply side and the demand side. And these impacts are because the supply chain resilience is not enough to cope with such a serious natural disaster in the face of sudden natural disasters such as COVID-19, supply chain resilience needs to go through four stages. A key discovery is that the application of digital technology could improve flexibility, collaboration, visibility, agility and early warning ability to support the realization of food supply chain resilience. Through the digitalization of the food supply chain, the food supply chain can better recover from the impact of the pandemic and develop a new operation mode to adapt to and improve the economic environment in the post pandemic era. |
