Description
Summary:Malaysian companies are often faced with the difficulties of attracting new talents and retaining their employees. Training new employees is a costly and time consuming process. In order to increase staff retention rates, companies are including HRM strategies to take care of the employees’ well-being and keep them happy. This research examines the individual traits of Ability, Motivation and Opportunity using the AMO framework, and their effects of creating happiness at the workplace. Various aspects of the Happiness-at-Work constructs have been measured in this research to form a conclusive explanation. The study conducts an empirical study of the Malaysian workforce. The results show that there is a positive relationship between the AMO framework and Happiness-at-Work. Additional analysis provides a succinct picture of the behaviour of the two largest age groups of the Malaysian workforce – Generation-X and Generation-Y.
