description ABSTRACT This research was initiated to shed the light on managing project on a small-scale as most studies of project management are biased towards large projects and there is a research gap when it comes to understanding smaller scale projects. Project management practices are evaluated using project management maturity level where performance is benchmarked and further improvements are suggested. This is mainly a primary data research project that is based on an SME company in Jordan and will look into project management practices and approaches being used in that particular company. This research was conducted by first reviewing the relevant literature to understand the topic more, and then various interviews was carried out with the project stakeholders. Additionally various databases such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) were used to evaluate project management practices using project management maturity models. Based on the Analysis and the findings, this research presents an evaluation of project management practices. Throughout the research, relationships between stakeholders, factors that contribute to project success/failure and constraints are identified. Moreover, projects managed within the company are classified, best practices are identified and improvements are suggested regarding managing small scale projects are discussed in the analysis and findings. Maturity levels are evaluated based on several process perspectives, and based on the results, it was realised that SMEs tend to rank low on maturity models. Furthermore, this research aims to provide a contribution to the academic field in the country where it was conducted. In which, it is considered to be setting a starting point for focused project management studies in Jordan.
