Summary:Abstract This study examines the role of rewards in employee motivation in low-paying sector. 15 employees in Hong Kong McDonald's are interviewed. This article mainly focuses on the employeyees' perceptions towards motivations and satisfaction in their jobs. The relationship between reward, job satisfaction and job performance is also examined. It shows the correlation between these three matters and explains the effect of reward on job satisfaction and job performance, hence showing the importance of the role of reward in the low-paying sector. Essentially, this dissertation aims to explore whether money is the most effective factor of employees' motivation in low-paying sector and its affection to their work performances and to find out the importance of intrinsic motivations towards employees in the low-paying sector.
