Description
Summary:This research focuses on the discovery of novel inhibitors of the enzyme xanthine oxidase to assist in the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. Four different libraries of compounds with a total of 95 molecules were synthesized, purified, characterized and tested in-vitro, with additional molecular docking conducted to rationalize binding interactions. The most active compound was more than 900 times more effective in-vitro than Allopurinol, the current drug of first choice in the market.
