description This paper describes a practical application of video analysis software for the purposes of teacher professional development in a large public Australian university. The current research builds on previous research into the practices of effective literacy teachers, notable for its focus on what quality teachers actually do in the classroom to enhance learning rather than what research indicates they should do (Louden et al., 2005). In this paper, the researchers describe their initial experiences using the video analysis software and highlight its potential as a tool for teacher professional development.
