Description
Summary:Prepacked aggregate concrete or, simply, prepacked concrete derives its name from the placement method by which it is made. Unlike traditional concrete, it is made by first placing the coarse aggregate in the formwork and then injecting a grout of sand, cement, and water to fill the voids between the aggregate particles. This concrete may be regarded as a skeleton concrete, as the coarse aggregates effectively rest against one another. The remaining voids are filled with cement mortar. The creep and the creep recovery of prepacked aggregate concrete are expected to be somewhat different from that of conventional concrete because of the initial point-to- point contact of the aggregates.
