Disease mutations in desmoplakin inhibit Cx43 membrane targeting mediated by desmoplakin–EB1 interactions
An interaction with the microtubule-binding protein EB1 enables the desmosomal protein desmoplakin to modify microtubule organization and dynamics near sites of cell–cell contact, subsequently regulating membrane localization of gap junction–forming connexins.
