Analysis of variance showed significant differences in dbh (diameter at breast height) growth among seedlots at 12, 18 and 24 months. Mean height and dbh of Laran at 12, 24 and 30 months were threefold greater than those of Sentang (Azadirachta excelsa). Laran also grew better than Acacia mangium at 12 months. At 24 months, seedlots from Tawau-4 and Kolapis-1 showed consistency and superiority in dbh growth whilst the worst performer was the seedlot from Tawau-2. Based on its early growth performance, Laran proved to have great potential as a plantation species.
