Description
Summary:Background. To analyze the surgical treatment of inguinal hernia in Grodno region and determine the approaches to the optimization of choice of hernioplasty. Material and methods. The analysis of surgical treatment of inguinal hernia is conducted in Grodno region over the period of the years 2016–2017. 75 patients with inguinal hernia of II, IIIa and IIIb types on L. Nyhus of young, middle and old age were examined. The height of inguinal interval, cumulative thickness of an internal oblique and transverse muscles of the abdomen, and also diameter of deep inguinal ring were measured using the method of ultrasound imaging and intraoperative morphometry. Results. In Grodno region in 2016-2017 2010 operations of inguinal herniotomy were performed. Attenuation methods were applied in 36,7% cases of surgical interventions, and stretching methods of hernioplasty - in 63,3% of cases. Hernioplasty by Bassiny is applied more often than other methods of inguinal herniotomy (46,7%). In 2017 due to the recurrence of hernias among young people 10% patients were operated, among persons of middle age – 8,7% patients and old people – 10,1% patients. Ultrasonic visualization and morphometric examination of topographic and anatomical parameters of inguinal canal showed, that their sizes depended both on age of patient and type of inguinal hernia. Conclusions. When choosing the method of inguinal herniotomy it is necessary to take into account metrical descriptions of inguinal canal.
