Description
Summary:The Information Technology Division is a crucial driver of information technology management across all departments. Professional Competency of Information Technology (IT) Officers and Assistants Officers will ensure the latest and most significant technological sustainability. This is important to keep them up to date on the latest developments in information technology. Therefore, this study was conducted to look at the competencies of Information Technology (IT) Officers and Assistants Officers. Also, this study determined the effect of individual characteristics, nature of work, and organizational climate on professional competency. The study involved 86 respondents from Information Technology (IT) Officers and Assistants Officers at state government offices, statutory bodies, and local authorities throughout Terengganu. In this study, the quantitative approach uses a simple random sampling method to obtain a sample of the population. The questionnaire set was distributed as the primary study tool for the data collection process. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software was used to analyze the data collected. Factor analysis, reliability, normality test, descriptive statistics analysis, Correlation, and Regression were used for this study. The findings of the study found that the level of competence of Information Technology (IT) Officers and Assistants Officers was moderate. At the same time, the results of the Correlation analysis show that there is a positive and robust relationship between individual characteristics, organizational climate, and the nature of work towards moderate professional competency. In addition, the results of the Regression analysis indicate that the nature of work has the most significant impact on the professional competency of Information Technology (IT) Officers and Assistants Officers. The results of this study can contribute significantly to improving the level of competence among them. This study also proposes several further studies by examining other factors that also affect the competencies of Information Technology (IT) Officers and Assistants Officers.
