| Summary: | ECOWAS was established on May 28, 1975 in Lagos Nigeria with the purpose of achieving its objectives of promoting economic integration and cooperation among mem ber states. This research is to exam ine the roles of ECOW AS parliament towards the achievement of regional integration through the applicability and practice of multilateral diplomacy in the ECOW AS parliament. It is the forum for dialogue, consultation and consensus of West African people through the universal adult suffrage. It was created to give legitimacy to governance in a democratic system of government, but it lacks legislative power. This research examines how competence and influence is ECOWAS parliament to West African countries. And to consider the impacts of the ECOWAS to West African nations. The threat of globalisation has forced the West African leaders to start thinking about how to cooperate so as to achieve specific objectives of regional integration as they considered its significance from European Union. This research is qualitative in nature and has adopted content analysis which is descriptive. Data was collected from documents, books, journals, dissertations, seminar papers and articles. The study used Neo-functional theory as its guiding theory. The study concluded that the competence and achievement of ECOWAS objectives are entitled to ECOWAS parliament as well as its challenges. The findings indicated the roles of multilateral diplomacy in community parliament, the roles of ECOW AS parliament of regional integration, good governance and democracy, human development, peace and security and challenges towards the achievement of ECOW AS objectives. The findings showed how ECOWAS parliament implements its duties, and it displays the competency and influences of ECOWAS to the West African nations.
