The subjects were 28 diploma students from various courses. The students were exposed to the use of blogs in aiding their essay writing. The students were taught by the researcher herself using blog applications in the classroom, utilizing six lesson plans constructed by the researcher specifically for the research. The data were collected from students' documents; comments and writing in blog entries, questionnaires, interviews, journals and researcher's observation. Comments and writing in blog entries were analyzed for interpretation. The questionnaires and interviews were administered at the beginning and end of the semester. The students and researcher contributed their journals for the research and the researcher herself did the observation on the students' performance in the writing class. Two subjects were chosen for in-depth study based on certain criteria. The qualitative analysis of the data indicates that the students produced better written output by using blog applications. The overall results seem to imply that the use of blog applications in the writing classroom has an impact on students' writing performance. The findings from this research seem to indicate that blogs can produce positive results on the students' writing. The findings will be of interest to educators who are interested in applying technology in the teaching of writing.
