Comparison of micromagnetic parameters of the ferromagnetic semiconductors (Ga,Mn)(As,P) and (Ga,Mn)As
Published 2014“…We report on the determination of micromagnetic parameters of epilayers of the ferromagnetic semiconductor (Ga,Mn)As, which has an easy axis in the sample plane, and (Ga,Mn)(As,P), which has an easy axis perpendicular to the sample plane. We use an optical analog of ferromagnetic resonancewhere the laser-pulse-induced precession of magnetization is measured directly in the time domain. …”

Micromagnetic finite element simulation of nanocrystalline α-Fe/Nd2Fe14B/Fe3B magnets
Published 2014“…Nanocomposite Nd2Fe14B permanent magnets with Fe3B and α-Fe as the soft phase have been simulated using micromagnetic modelling. This paper reviews extensively the results from the simulation point of view. …”

Strain induced vortex core switching in planar magnetostrictive nanostructures
Published 2015“…Here, we propose a new means of stimulating magnetization reversal of the vortex core by applying a time-varying strain gradient to planar structures of the magnetostrictive material Fe81Ga19 (Galfenol), coupled to an underlying piezoelectric layer. Using micromagnetic simulations we have shown that the vortex core state can be deterministically reversed by electric field control of the time-dependent strain-induced anisotropy.…”

Inertial displacement of a domain wall excited by ultra-short circularly polarized laser pulses
Published 2017“…In our study we combine electrical measurements and magneto-optical imaging of the domain wall displacement with micromagnetic simulations. The optical spin transfer torque acts over a picosecond recombination time of the spin polarized photo-carriers which only leads to a deformation of the internal domain wall structure. …”

Multiple-stable anisotropic magnetoresistance memory in antiferromagnetic MnTe
Published 2016“…Here we demonstrate a multiple-stable memory device in epitaxial MnTe, an antiferromagnetic counterpart of common II–VI semiconductors. Favourable micromagnetic characteristics of MnTe allow us to demonstrate a smoothly varying zero-field antiferromagnetic anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) with a harmonic angular dependence on the writing magnetic field angle, analogous to ferromagnets. …”

Electric field control of deterministic current-induced magnetization switching in a hybrid ferromagnetic/ferroelectric structure
Published 2017“…The electric field is found to generate an additional spin–orbit torque on the CoNiCo magnets, which is confirmed by macrospin calculations and micromagnetic simulations.…”

Magnetotransport and magnetocrystalline anisotropy studies of gallium manganese arsenide thin films
Published 2008“…Whilst a Curie temperature anywhere close to room temperature has yet to be demonstrated, the excellent micromagnetic properties, simple band structure and unusual combination of having both low moment densities and high spin-orbit coupling make this an interesting material to study from both theoretical and experimental perspectives. …”

Strain control of ferromagnetic thin films and devices
Published 2016“…Experimental control of the field required to depin a vortex domain wall from a notch in a 1 μm wide Co wire is demonstrated. Using micromagnetic simulations it is shown that a large degree of control over the depinning of domain walls from notches in wires 1 μm wide and narrower is possible. …”

Manipulating the magnetic anisotropy in the ferromagnetic semiconductor Gallium Manganese Arsenide
Published 2012“…Furthermore, the combination of large magnetic anisotropies, large spin stiffness and relatively small magnetic moments renders (Ga,Mn)As a hard ferromagnetic system with excellent micromagnetic properties, including mean-field like magnetization and macroscopic single-domain characteristics, that can be described both phenomenologically and microscopically, thanks to the relatively simple band structure. …”
