Effects of historically familiar and novel predator odors on the physiology of an introduced prey by Mella, V., Cooper, C., Davies, Stephen

    Published 2016
“…We examined the physiological response, as shown by changes in ventilatory variables, of an introduced terrestrial herbivore, the European rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus, in Australia, to the odor of potential predators and to control odors (distilled water and horse), to explore if responses were limited to historical (cat and fox) predators, or extended to historically novel predators (snake and quoll). …”

Molecular characterization of adipose tissue in the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) by Nilsson, Emeli M., Fainberg, Hernan P., Choong, Siew S., Giles, Thomas C., Sells, James, May, Sean, Stansfield, Fiona J., Allen, William R., Emes, Richard D., Mostyn, Alison, Mongan, Nigel P., Yon, Lisa

    Published 2014
“…The derived protein sequence of the elephant leptin protein was exploited to determine its relationship within the class I helical cytokine superfamily, which indicates that elephant leptin is most closely related to the leptin orthologs of Oryctolagus cuniculus (European rabbit), Lepus oiostolus (woolly hare), and members of the Ochotonidae (Pika). …”

Seed dispersal of alien and native plants by vertebrate herbivores by Calvino-Cancela, Maria

    Published 2011
“…I studied factors associated with dispersal of alien and native seeds by the three most important vertebrate herbivores in SW Australia: emus (Dromaius novaehollandia), western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus) and European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Overall frequencies of alien and native seeds dispersed by these herbivores were determined by differences among them in (1) the plant groups they predominantly disperse, that differed in frequencies of aliens versus natives, and (2) the predominant dispersal of aliens or natives within those plant groups. …”
