海峡殖民地的华人娼妓（1870-1930） : Chinese prostitutes in straits settlements (1870-1930)

自 1786 年起，英国势力渗入马来半岛，槟榔屿、新加坡和马六甲先后被掌管，以男性为主的苦力贸易蓬勃发展。1826 年 11 月 27 日，这三个重要港口合并组成海峡殖民地，移民华工都在此地登陆上岸，故马来半岛以海峡殖民地华人人口为最多。性别比例失衡导致英殖民政府对娼妓业采取不干涉政策，娼妓业日渐隆盛，直至 1870 年才开始管制娼妓业，后到 1930 年的全面废除，兴盛了 60 年的娼妓业正式落幕。本研究旨在探讨 1870-1930 年海峡殖民地华人娼妓的现象和演变。第一章将了解海峡殖民地娼妓业的兴起与发展，揭示当时社会背景下娼妓与华人社会之间的复杂联系，从中窥探当时的社会面...
