Description
Summary:In the digital age, the global social media platform Xiaohongshu has a potential impact on the cultural and national identity perception of Malaysian Chinese secondary school students through the wide dissemination of Chinese movies and TV dramas and propaganda about the current situation of China. Although this group shares roots with the Chinese in China, their identity and cultural experiences have changed due to the vicissitudes of time, space and environment. This study aims to gain insight into the dynamic process of national and cultural identity perception among Malaysian Chinese secondary school students in a social media environment, especially on Xiaohongshu. Through in-depth interviews, questionnaires and content analysis, this study reveals how social media affects individual identity construction to provide reference and inspiration for future social media education.
