Minyak esen dari daun C. hystrix dan kudub bunga P. speciose dianalisikan dengan kromatografi gas kolum kapilari dan dikenalpastikan oleh spektrometri jisim dan resonans magnet nukleus. Sifat-sifat fizik dan bau juga dikenalpastikan untuk kedua-dua minyak esen tersebut.
