Kinetics of biotransformation for citronellol production using saccharomyces cerevisiae.

The present study describes the biotransformation of hydrophobic monoterpene, geraniol into citronellol by whole cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in a continuous closed-gas loop bioreactor (CCGLB). Geraniol which has high vapor pressure, high volatility and low solubility in aqueous medium is highly suited to be used in this system.
