Although identified as able to degrade lignin in our screen, the ligninolytic activityof this strain was weak. Nonetheless, assessment of its utilization of lignin-associated aromatic monomers revealed that Pseudomonas sp. strain CCA1 assimilated at least ten lignin-associated aromatic monomers.
