Description
Summary:The study of understorey avifauna of limestone area, Bau Sarawak was to determine the abundance and diversity of birds both in disturbed and less disturbed aresa. Results obtained from the study were based on comparison bird's characteristic between those areas. Twenty mistnet were lIsed (10 in disturbs area and 10 in less disturbs area) and the study was carried out forsix days. A total of 101 individuals representing 33 species were caught. The result indicated that there was no significant differencein relative abundance between disturbed and less disturbed areas. However, the differences in biodiversity index was significant. No significant was also found in external morphology of birds between disturbeed and less disturbed areas. Food sources and ecotourism activities were probably factors that influenced species composition and distribution patterns in the study sites.
