description Post-washed animal tissue and stored tissue are important for tissue analysis. Quantification of the lotal microbial contamination on the surfaces of chicken livers was conducted using serial dilutions met.hod~ in aseptic environment. High levels of contamination were observed on prewashed chicken livers, with average COllnt of 1.134billion per gram chicken liver. There was a decrease in leve l of contamination on post-was hl..:d chicken liver wilh phosphate buffered saline, with average count of28.456 million bacteria per ~ram chic ken liver. The present of bacteria on the surfaces of post-washed chicken livers stored at -SODC for two weeks was in a lower level, with average count of IS2.7 thousand bacteria per gram chicken liver. Conve"nlional biochemical tests were used to identify the bacteria isolates. Colony-PCR perform in this study to amplifi~d 16sRNA gene oflwo isolates and send for DNA sequencing. As a result the two isolates were confirm to be Enterococcus spp and pseudomonas spp. The dominam rypes of bacteria that were presem on surfaces of prewashcd chicken livers were suspected to be E.col; (1 0.63%), followed by Enterococcus spp (10.35%) and Morganel/a spp (10.35%). As for post-washed chicken livers the suspected dominant bacteria were E.coli (45 .28%), Enterococcus spp.( 12.58%), Bacil/us spp.( 12.58%). For post-washed chicken liver stored at -80' C for two weeks, Ecoll (33.33%), Salmonella spp.(16.77), and Emerococcus spp (16.7%) "ere suspected to present on the surfaces of chicken livers. Further research on more effective washing sulutions should be conducted to decrease the level of contamination in post-washed animal tissues to obtain more accurate tissue related research analysis.
