raised access floors on the concrete floors vibration. The development of a new composite concrete floor and modal testing facility based on electrodynamics shaker excitation, which was capable of producing high quality estimates of the modal properties of full-scale floor structures.
This was subsequently utilized to determine the modal properties of two full-scale floor structures: first concrete floor with profiles steel sheet (PSS), described as PSS concrete floor (PCF) and concrete floor with PSS and vibration damping compound (VDC) called Composite
Concrete Floor (CCF). The VDC is used for producing special performance on CCF. It is designed to reduce noise by damping resonant vibration caused by continuous or impulsive
excitation of the floor. Three different excitation methods or tests are done such as Heel drop test; Instrumented
hammer test and Instrumented electro-dynamic shaker test. A dynamic test (hammer impact test) and a deflection test with 1 kN load. For validation of the test setup, the results were compared with data from other similar studies. The response of the structures under controlled heel drop
and other excitation was found to reduce at various locations of raised access floors vibrations. The results are calculated as a function of the frequency, acceleration, amplitude in combination with the fundamental frequency and acceleration. This thesis treats the use of vibration damping compound (VDC) to mitigate excessive vibrations in steel deck composite floor. The properties
of VDC have been presented and their performances in reducing the excessive vibrations have been assessed this thesis. |
