from two species of Bacterocera (fruit flies) of several locations from Sarawak using Gas Chromatography – Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID). This study found that
hydrocarbon composition of these species affected by different locality with respects to their geographical distance between one location to others. Discriminant function analysis (DFA) showed that the entire sample studied can be separated into two different groups
where the first group comprise of Limbang, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu and Sri Aman and while another group was Kapit. Cluster analysis (CA) showed that there are variations of
hydrocarbon composition occurred between six sampling sites. The comparison study between two different species which are B. dorsalis and B. umbrosa showed n-alkanes
composition cannot be used only to differentiate them. |
