| description | This study explores the therapeutic potential of tiger milk mushroom (Lignosus rhinocerus) and cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis) extracts, focusing on their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties when formulated in different ratios. Using hot water extraction, the study prepared five formulations, including pure extracts of each mushroom and combinations in ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1. These formulations were evaluated for bioactivity through assays such as Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) denaturation for anti-inflammatory properties and DPPH radical scavenging and FRAP assays for antioxidant potential. The findings revealed that all formulations displayed significant bioactivity, with the 2:1 ratio of tiger milk mushroom to cordyceps (Formulation 5) demonstrating the highest efficacy in both its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, highlighting a synergistic interaction when compared to the 1:1 and 1:2 ratios. Chemical analysis using FTIR and HPLC confirmed the presence of bioactive compounds, including phenolic acids, and other antioxidant agents, which are key contributors to the observed effects. The study underscores the synergistic potential of these mushrooms in combating oxidative stress and inflammation-related diseases, presenting a natural, low-side-effect alternative to conventional therapies. The study paves the way for the development of safe and effective natural formulations as alternatives to conventional drugs with fewer side effects. Moreover, these results offer a foundation for future research, including in vivo studies and large-scale production, to further explore and optimize these natural formulations for therapeutic use. |
