| description | Happiness at work and job satisfaction are significant indicators of productivity, retention, and, ultimately, institutional success in education. This study investigates the levels of happiness at work among academicians in Malaysian higher education institutions, as well as the factors that influence their psychological health. Selected Malaysian public and private institutions from two states, which are Pahang and Selangor were surveyed using a survey questionnaire which consist of three parts (demographic, occupational factors affecting happiness at work, and shorted-happiness at work). The study investigates the relationship between workplace happiness and a variety of characteristics, including job satisfaction, job engagement, working environment, management commitment, supportive-work-relationship, and workload. The results indicate that most of the academicians are in average happiness. Furthermore, the study found significant differences between public universities and private universities. As a result, our findings will assist leaders and management in their efforts to increase employment happiness and establish more conducive educational environments. Thus, the study contributed to the growing body of study on the occupational happiness while also providing practical recommendations for improving academics' psychological wellbeing and satisfaction in Malaysian higher education institutions. |
