| description | This study investigates the organizational perspective on investing in safety and health within the context of Universiti Malaysia Pahang al-Sultan Abdullah’s Gambang Campus. It examines the factors influencing such investments, including legal compliance, management commitment towards safety, the availability of safety rules and procedures, safety communication and feedback, and the acquisition of safety knowledge. Utilizing quantitative approach, data were collected through surveys with the Administrative Officer and the Head of Technical from every faculty and center as the expert respondents.
The analysis employed the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) methodology to determine the interdependencies among the factors. The findings reveal that management commitment towards safety is the most significant driver, positively impacting other factors such as communication, procedures and knowledge acquisition. Conversely, legal compliance and the mere availability of safety rules showed limited influence without robust leadership and communication.
The results highlight the importance of proactive leadership, structured safety communication, and a strategic approach to invest in safety and health. This study contributes to enhancing safety culture and provides actionable insights for prioritizing investments in organizational safety and health initiatives. Recommendations include developing comprehensives budgets plan, standardizing procedures, and strengthening management commitment to ensure suitable improvements in safety practices. |
