description The evaluation of the strength and quality of concrete is crucial in identifying whether the concrete requires maintenance. Non-destructive testing (NDT) is the best solution to evaluate the state of the building due to its nature of not leaving permanent damage. The evaluation has a wide range of techniques, such as a visual inspection. During the maintenance phases of structures, buildings must be monitored on a consistent basis. Hence, NDT is the perfect way to monitor and A lot of work has gone into integrating multiple NDT techniques into a structural health monitoring system in a complementary manner. The aim of this study is to utilize the ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) test and rebound hammer test in testing the concrete without leaving any permanent damage. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the strength and quality of concrete in an abandoned RC structure at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Kampus Paya Besar, Gambang. The structural elements that are evaluated are the beams and columns as they carry most of the loadings of the structure. Based on the results of testing, it was found that the rebound hammer test yielded good results categorizing the beams and columns as a very good hard layer. The predicted compressive strength was also found to exceed the minimum strength required by the specifications. Next, the UPV results showed that the beams were in good condition whereas the columns showed satisfactory condition. Therefore, from this study, it’s safe to say that NDT is a reliable method for evaluating the quality and strength of concrete.
