Nowadays, timber is still vastly demanded in today’s construction due to its quality, flexibility and aesthetic values. Moreover, the aim of this research is to establish the factors to be considered by homeowners in maintenance of timber elements as finishes in residential building. This study is focusing on the proper maintenance methods of timber finishes because it can help the homeowners reduce their budgeting cost on it. If their timber finishes in a proper maintenance, the condition of the timber finishes is good and can used in a long term period. The process of study involves are primary data collection which is observation and questionnaire and secondary data collection which is journal, article, books etc. the site visit is also carried out to obtain the necessary data. The case study includes be given the questionnaires survey on the homeowners at Shah Alam area which is at Seksyen 7, Seksyen 17 and Seksyen U5. Distribution of questionnaire to examine the homeowners’ awareness on maintenance needs for timber elements in residential building, to identify the types of timber finishes and decoration that used in their housing. Based on data collection were shows the majority of homeowners’ are aware on the maintenance on their timber finishes and decoration. The result on finding conclude that the homeowner mostly aware on the cleaning, selecting and preservation on the timber elements. In addition, there is a several recommendation for a future research which is need to identify more detail on maintenance for timber elements and more specified on maintenance of timber works that applied. Other than that, the researcher needs to increase the number of case study. This is because from more sources and information, it can elaborate and compared the awareness of the homeowners. |
