Summary:Coaching and Guidance Centre of The Aligarh Muslim University is the role model for sustainable development in heritage buildings of the University. This monument is a part of first building complex constructed in 1875-1910 and was known as Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College. The addition, alteration and modifications done in various periods in the building are clearly visible and they can be reverted back to their original form whenever required without damaging the building. The new services provided in this heritage structure merges with the original fabric of the building. This paper highlights the issues of sustainable development in this heritage structure, with the change in use of building with passage of time. This paper also provides a base for incorporating new services to a heritage structure without hampering the original fabrics of the monument and concludes with the guidelines for the sustainable development of this heritage building.
