Description
Summary:In this study, the mechanical properties of natural sand powder reinforced HDPE and PP were investigated experimentally. Standard samples were prepared by conventional met mixing process for Silane treated and untreated powder reinforced composites with 5, 10 and 15wt%. Tensile and flexural test results from Universal Tensile Machine (UTM), Morphology of fractured surfaces and mixing Torque has been carefully analyzed. It was found that the tensile strength, maximum elongation and deflection decrease as the percentage of filler content increase for unfilled composite. Significant improvement has been reached by treating the powder filler with Methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane (MTS) in which the tensile strength, modulus of elasticity and deflection increase as the filler content increase.
