| Summary: | Bluetooth is a wireless networking technology that offers low-power and short-range communication between mobile devices. This allows Bluetooth-enabled devices within range of 10m to 100m to forward packets in an ad hoc fashion. However, due to their limited power resource, energy needs to be conserved when handover and continuous discovery processes are performed for roaming. This paper presents an improved handover scheme in Bluetooth network while energy usage is optimized for longer and continuous operation of the network. The key approach is to reduce the searching time during the discovery process. The performance of the proposed handover scheme will be observed with respect to its energy utilization in early connection state. © 2008 IEEE.
