description This dissertation attempts to contribute to the research gap of resource weaknesses in different strategies used for both resolvable resource weaknesses and irresolvable resource weaknesses, with exploring the theoretical application of the resource-based view and the corporate turnaround strategy within one China-based company. The theoretical perspective consists of the strategy concept, resource-based view framework with the critical views, existing literature about resource weaknesses and primary corporate turnaround strategy. Through applying theoretical knowledge to identify the resource weaknesses and their turnaround strategies of one China-based company, this research aims to generalise the model of identification and solutions for dilemmas caused by resolvable resource weaknesses and irresolvable resource weaknesses of this organisation. This weaknesses identification method may be used as a guideline for similar companies in the same industry. Additionally, it might be generally useful for companies under a similar situation within different industries. Semi-structured interviews from different management level within the company are used to collect a comprehensive view towards the resource weakness and turnaround strategy. These findings, combining with documental data, are generalised into themes in order to discuss on the suggestion of how to react to different types of resource weaknesses and minimise the impacts. According to findings, this dissertation explains how to realise the existence of resource weaknesses, how to identify one particular weakness is resolvable or irresolvable, and specialised turnaround strategies for each type of resource weaknesses. This research also provides suggestions on how to prevent resource weaknesses from developing and minimise negative impacts.
