description Important decisions need to be made by MNCs when entering a new foreign market. One is what type of entering mode they should use to penetrate the market in order to succeed. While deciding on the choice of entry, there might be factors that they need to consider. The purpose of this thesis is to enhance the understanding of the internationalisation process and entry strategies of Chinese firms. This paper focused on the entry strategies used by Chinese companies into the UK and factors that determine their choice. The selecting of existing theories were analysed, and an extended framework was developed. It also considered the motives that influence these enterprises. The data was collected from nine Chinese MNC managers through interviews. It was found that many Chinese companies use acquisition as their entry mode into the UK as a result of their ownership advantage. It was also concluded that the primary motive of these firms is seeking new markets in which they can invest.
