description This study uses data envelopment analysis (DEA) model to measure the efficiency of the 21 Chinese listed banks over 2012-2016. The results indicate that during the data period, there is a drop in the tendency of bank efficiency. In addition, the author applies the Tobit regression to examine the influence on ownership structure, bank size, profitability, risk and environmental factors on bank efficiency. The study supports the evidences of existing literature that state-owned banks are less efficient, and IPO can improve bank efficiency.
