description Purpose – The research aims to find the linkage between UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and companies’ CSR strategies in order to provide justification to the question that lots of CSR managers are being asked now: Why should companies integrate SDGs into their companies’ CSR strategies? Further research will focus on the approach and method the companies used in the case study to incorporate SDGs in their CSR strategies or activities. The research is being conducted under practical purpose and the author hopes the research findings could provide reference to the CSR practitioners when facing the decision making on this topic. Methodology – A comparative case study method is deployed to analyze the case. The study focuses on comparing two groups of companies – 3 UK companies and 4 Chinese companies within the UN Global Compact LEAD Initiative. The study mainly compares the cases specifically in CSR strategies and implementations (initiatives, programmes and projects) in order to produce answers to the research questions and fulfill the objectives of the study. The study uses a range of secondary sources include CSR/annual/investor reports, academic journals, corporate websites, company statements (eg. press releases), CEO interviews, media coverages, published reports, as well as government sources.
