description With the development of the emerging technologies, location monitoring has emerged recently in area of monitoring in the workplace. Compare with the other electronic monitoring types, location monitoring has a huge potential to increase in the future because of the rapid development of location sensing technology and its current low market share. Itis a complex research theme as it can bring out plenty of positive effects to organizations such as increasing productivity and reducing cost. However, the negative implications to employees such as perceptions of privacy, stress and fairness which will interact with organizations each other can also be serious problems to organizations. Thus, this research proposes to evaluate the general employees’ personal implications within the cab industry such as privacy, stress and fairness issues regarding to the location monitoring in the workplace. Besides, it intends to determine the several external factors that will drive or influence these personal implications. Finally, it will suggest recommendations from management aspect and technology aspect to help reduce the managerial risks for organizations based on the discussion in this current research’s results. There are two studies in this research to fulfil the research aims: In-depth Interview and prototype design. According to the two studies, it is found out that, the three personal implications (privacy, stress and fairness) discussed in the previous researches do not show extremely negative effects to the drivers and cab companies. Additionally, there are four factors that will influence these personal implications while using location monitoring: organization culture, business model, monitoring system design and purpose consistence. Finally, this research recommends that organizations should build a fairer and transparent work environment and involve employees in the design or implementation of monitoring system as well as offer a multi-function monitoring devices to employees.
