The objectives of the research are to understand where the goods are originating from India and where it is consumed in China and to identify the ports facilitating the bilateral trade between India and China. A close study of the supply chain operations of industrial salt as well as cotton in order to understand the total cost and hindrance enmeshed within India-China Supply Chain was done.
The report has three chapters. Chapter 2 include the literature review of India-China relationship, supply chain management and supply chain infrastructure in developing countries. Chapter 3 describes the empirical study of the salt industry and the cotton industry. The empirical study was conducted through semi-structured interviews; the questions covered the scope of supply chain process, logistics cost, timeline of each process in the supply chain, stakeholders and bottlenecks faced by the respective industries.
The relationship of India and China is important as both governments want a stable relationship between both the nations to achieve economic growth for the countries independently as well as economic growth of the region. This study concentrated on two major industries for the supply chain mapping hence further research should look into more industries and aspects of the India-China supply chain, as this would provide more insight into several other factors that play a contributing factor in improving the performance of supply chain between India and China. |
