Through adapting the content of the model but keeping the framework intact, we were able to explain the various aspects of motivation in project management and engineering professionals. Our findings were twofold: 1) when considering the motivation of knowledge workers it is essential for managers and theorists that every aspect of motivation is considered and balanced, 2) for knowledge workers the future is a constant concern and the right career and personal development programmes as this was the most important motivational factor found across both sets of professionals. Results are discussed, and practical conclusions and recommendations for further research are made. |
