This research reflects the issues of tourism development in Bama-a longevity area in China. It focuses on examining three research questions: the tourist motivation, the stakeholders’ attitudes about tourism development and the managerial problems of the destination. Especially, it deeply discusses the negative impacts of tourism development on the natural environment and socio-culture elements what the longevity phenomena rest on in this region.
Qualitative research methods were used in the field study. In-death interviews with 40 samples and the observations help the author achieve the goal of research.
The author attempts to advise the people particularly the management should be cautious when pushing on tourism development in such a fragile land and suggests that management should seriously consider of the balance of all stakeholders’ interests in the long run and the tradeoff of the negative impacts and development, and demonstrates the managerial problems which block the progress and success of such a niche market. Also, this study seeks opportunities in obtaining sustainable tourism development for this region. |
