In the recent years, social network sites have become some of the most popular online destinations for communication and leisure activity for many people among Internet users globally. Sites like MySpace, Linkedin,YouTube and Wikipedia have shifted online activities from “browsing” to collaborating, interacting and personalizing. This study explores users’ activities and their preferences for using social network sites. Linkedin-a leading social network site for professionals across the world, was considered as a case study for the analysis. Based on the literature reviewed, hypotheses have been formed to examine the users’ attitudes for using and revisiting the site. A questionnaire was developed and administered among users of Linkedin. A total of 110 respondents were participated in the web based survey. Statistical software SPSS was used to analyse the data collected. Findings of statistical results indicated users’ preferences as extending social networks by forming new links, knowledge gain by seeking and sharing knowledge with other members of the site. |
