description The purpose of this research is to critically evaluate the relationship between motivation and staff absenteeism in Infosys BPO. In the introduction the researcher explains about the background of the company, the objectives and the structure of the research by telling the key points of the chapters. Through the review of concepts the researcher was able to easily understand the relationship between motivation of how people are being motivated and then what leads to the level of staff absence. The literature review aims at providing the insights of motivational theories and the theory which is best suited to apply for this research project. It also tells us what is absenteeism and how absenteeism is been dealt within the organization. In the methodology chapter, the researcher discuses about the methods used in this research i.e. both Qualitative and Quantitative methods that includes closed questionnaire; open ended interviews and observations used in this research. The outcome of this research was that in the organization the relationship between motivation and staff absenteeism was recognised to be true because people are being motivated correctly for all their jobs and their needs, so there is a low level of absence. The managers of Infosys BPO motivate their employees in different ways like training, giving incentives, rewards and recognition. On the other side, if staff does not come for work, the management does understand and they give them lots of opportunities to come back after work. All the management asks for is a planned holiday or in some unfortunate events or illness a phone call from the employee before the time he usually reports to his work. This would also bring the employees or the staff to work further with involvement to achieve more and more rewards and recognition for the organizational betterment. The significance of this dissertation shows that the management of “The Infosys BPO” has aligned its direction towards motivating the employees to do their better job and perform well in their role of work. But, even though there were different levels of staff turnover that does not affect them, only in very rare cases which is happening everywhere. But they manage their staff absenteeism very well and the people are working hard and achieving more rewards. Therefore, the managers were really proud during the time of interview.
