| description | This research paper focuses mainly on merging physical and digital content along with location data and integrating safety concern to it, in order to provide value added location based services. I have tried to understand the feasibility of providing such a service which can be used to create benefits to various stakeholders. The main objectives covered in the light of the research are transparency and accountability of data, user-generated data, social responsible environment, public data and the next generation Web.
The feasibility of the service is further interpreted by considering the policies, challenges and limitations involved in capturing location information and also focusing on a particular instance of the usability of the service by the Local Police, Pub owners and other general users to bring about behavioural change in people and contribute to the social responsible environment.
In this dissertation, various concepts such as open data, user-generated data, location-based services, corporate social responsibility, customer satisfaction, social responsible index, etc. are understood through literature review and are linked to one another to suffice a strong meaning to the proposed service. Based on the few interviews that were conducted, the service usability themes were analyzed from different perspectives and finally the paper concludes that though there exists few limitations, by careful consideration and proper design, digital and physical world can complement each other with the implementation of safety-critical location based services and thus create value addition by contributing to sustainable and viable environment. |
