description This dissertation examines the effect and usefulness of the various regulations and disclosure policies in the Indian IPO market. The recently introduced Grading System has been used as a tool to analyse the effectiveness of additional mandatory disclosures in the Indian market. The effect of grading on subscription levels and underpricing has been found by taking into consideration the sample of all companies that have been graded and listed on the stock exchanges till now.. The results show that although grading effects the overall level of subscription, there is no correlation between grading and the subscription levels of retail investors. Moreover, the underpricing results show that there has been no significant change in the overall level of underpricing before and after introduction of grading.
