The relatively high office rental rates in Singapore is another reason to encourage homesourcing, which also ties in nicely with the government���¢��������s aim to promote Singapore as a shared services centre. Furthermore, the government has been active in promoting the importance and benefits of a friendly work-life culture and homesourcing could be a good solution.
The dissertation is aimed at 3 groups of employers in Singapore. The first group would be those who are considering outsourcing part of their operations as a mean to manage or reduce costs. The second group are those who are re-looking at their outsourcing strategy, or re-considering whether to extend the outsourcing agreement with their vendors. The third group would be those who would like to reduce operating costs, but are not too sure which measures could they take. This dissertation will attempt to suggest to these employers that homesourcing could be a more suitable and a more feasible measure to help manage or reduce costs.
The dissertation will first look at how homesourcing could be a better alternative to outsourcing. It will then look further at the tangible and intangible advantages of homesourcing and discuss the particular factors that can encourage homesourcing in Singapore. The possible issues associated with homesourcing will also be looked at, as well as how some of these issues, especially those local issues, can be managed. The dissertation will also attempt to draw up a feasible and manageable homesourcing strategy for a company in Singapore. The strategy will include looking at how the advantages of homesourcing can be further extended through offshore homesourcing. This strategy will also look at how issues associated with offshore homesourcing could be managed. |
