description The WEEE directive is causing many problems throughout the electronics industry and as a result of this there are several steps being taken by organisations that are heavily affected. Rockwell and Canon are two companies that have taken significant steps to help them deal with the problems that have been sent their way as a result. This report looks at how the WEEE has induced companies to change the design of their products introduce new waste streams and improve their own collection techniques. The information that founded the basis of the report is based on past literature that has been published by recognised authors in addition to interviews with employees of the organisations concerned. These interviews highlighted a large problem with the directive in that it is very unclear and this causes customers to become confused as to what falls under the scope of the directive and what does not. As a result, companies have adopted the policy to make sure that all of their products are compliant with the WEEE directive whenever possible, whether they fall under the scope of the directive or not.
