Outsourcing provided a quick solution to this demand; however it is also clearly evidenced that poorly managed outsourcing resulted increased cost, delayed in schedules and dubious quality work.
This dissertation explains and describes (i) the impact of outsourcing to software acquisition, (ii) the raise of IT governance and its influence on outsourcing and (iii) the software acquisition approaches and its problems. The purpose of this study is focuses on identifying and understanding effective techniques for the governing outsource software development contract. The goal of this study is not to guide a firm to obtain CMM accreditation. It is to determine and identify a useful set of capabilities and techniques from CMM for IT project managers in any firm to improve their success in outsource vendor management. Therefore, two case studies with two different projects in OCBC were conducted.
The findings had shown that for outsourcing to be successful and thus achieve business and Information Technology alignment, the right techniques of governing the project progress, controlling the quality of deliverables and coordinating all administrative activities must be given due attention by the firm. |
